It’s Fashion Revolution Week!

5 years since the Rana Plaza tragedy, what’s changed?

On 24 April 2013, Rana Plaza building having 5 garment factory in Bangladesh collapsed.

• 1,138 people died
• 2,500 were injured, mostly young women
• making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history.

That’s when Fashion Revolution Week was born. But Not enough has changed since Rana Plaza tradegy.

Fashion Revolution is a global movement that works for a more sustainable fashion industry, campaigning for a systemic reform of the industry with a special focus on the need for greater transparency in the fashion supply chain for clean environment to our future generation.

Here’s a crazy fact..

• it takes 2720 liters of water to produce 1 t-shirt. That’s how much you and I will drink over 3 years!
• Making clothing takes a huge amount of natural resources.
• In fact, in the USA, about 11 million tonnes of it ends up in landfill. And about 95% of that could have been recycled or up-cycled.
• Average clothing consumption per person emit 1.5 tonnes of Co2 required to plant 72 tree to absorb this C02.

We need to rethink how we buy, wear and dispose of fashion. This is#Haulternative. It’s a way of refreshing your wardrobe without buying new clothes to recycle more and more clothes. We are doing haulternative in association with women SHG of Uttarakahnd.
